Norbertine Community of Santa Maria de la Vid

Santa Maria de la Vid Priory is a religious community of Norbertine priests and brothers living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We are rooted in God’s Word and centered on Jesus Christ and His Church. Our vocation is focused on becoming one heart and mind on our journey toward God.

Our order is deeply rooted in the life of the Church. The Risen Christ sends us as apostles to witness the reality and the power of a Christian community of faith by living a simple life in community according to the rule of Augustine and the ancient traditions of the Order of Prémontré, and by loving service to the Church of Santa Fe, especially to its poor and needy.

Our primary ministry is to be a community. When we live together as a loving community, those whom we touch experience a pattern that they too can model. As Christ models for us, we model for others how to love with compassion in community.

We minister to the Archdiocese of Santa Fe through parish work, education, hospital chaplaincy, ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue, within the immigrant community, and through retreats, spiritual direction and art.

Although we are a pioneering community in New Mexico, our Norbertine Order is almost 900 years old, one of the oldest religious orders in the world. Communities of Norbertine priests and brothers now minister throughout Europe, Africa, India, South America, North America and Australia.
